Version 3.0.2 Alpha International
This page describes the previous 3.0.2 release. Download 3.0.3 alpha international for Windows 11 x64 or Linux x64, or read what is new.
Previous release
Version 3.0.2 alpha international, released on 30.09.2026, is distributed as a self-contained ZIP package. The required Java and Python runtime components are included, so users do not need to install these separately on hospital or research workstations.
Download spectrIm-QMRS-v3.0.2-alpha-international-W11-x64-distributable.zip,
extract it to a suitable local folder, and start the
application with start_spectrIm.bat from the
extracted release directory.
Release date: 30.09.2026; approx. 364.7 MB.
The release ZIP is large. Please allow a few minutes for the download and first start, especially from slower hospital or institutional network connections.
The user interface is available in English, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified), Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hindi, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian Bokmål, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish.
Three-dimensional CSI and MRSI datasets can be loaded from multiframe DICOM spectroscopy objects and displayed with their full spatial geometry.
Enhanced spectroscopy DICOM produced by Siemens XA software lines is accepted as valid input. The legacy Siemens DICOM spectroscopy format remains supported.
A more advanced HLSVD implementation provides fast residual water removal, denoising, and preprocessing for MRS and MRSI.
The integrated ILV simulator generates metabolite basis spectra by solving the Liouville-von Neumann equations for the sequence and acquisition settings.
TDFDFit performs prior-knowledge fitting in parallel across available CPU cores using POSIX threads.
A two-water-compartment model supports LCModel-style absolute quantification of SVS data with compartment-corrected concentration estimates.
The package contains the complete spectrIm-QMRS v3.0.2 alpha international distribution, including the Java runtime and the Python runtime needed by the HLSVD processing workflow. The bundled Python 3.12 environment already contains NumPy and SciPy versions compatible with the compiled HLSVD code used by spectrIm-QMRS.
Users should not replace the bundled Python packages with newer NumPy or SciPy releases unless they are deliberately testing a developer build. Newer numerical-library versions may not run the compiled HLSVD component correctly.
After extracting the ZIP file, run start_spectrIm.bat.
The launcher changes to the extracted release folder, verifies that
the bundled Java executable and spectrIm-QMRS.jar are
present, and then starts the application with the bundled Java runtime.
cd /d "%~dp0"
set "JAVA_EXE=%~dp0RuntimeJava\jdk-25.0.3+9\bin\java.exe"
set "APP_JAR=%~dp0dist\spectrIm-QMRS.jar"
"%JAVA_EXE%" -jar "%APP_JAR%"
On first use, spectrIm-QMRS prepares its clinical working directory,
.SpectrImClinicalQMRS. This directory can contain MRS(I)
patient data, TDFDFit models, ILV basis-simulation models, generated
output, reports, and other working files. Choose a storage location
that can handle large future datasets and that satisfies your local
data-protection rules.
At startup, the application asks whether to mount the configured patient DICOM data directory. A different directory can be selected, and an unset patient database location can be defined before mounting.
Users who previously worked with a spectrIm-QMRS v2.x release
should remove or rename the old .SpectrImClinicalBoot
directory in their home directory before using v3. The v2 and v3
bootstrap layouts should not be used in parallel.
Renaming is the safer choice when old models, settings, or example
data may still be needed. For example, rename
.SpectrImClinicalBoot to
.SpectrImClinicalBoot_v2_backup before starting the
v3 alpha release.
Older installation-based spectrIm-QMRS releases remain available for reproducibility, legacy comparisons, and established v2 workflows. They are intentionally separated from the recommended v3 alpha download so new users do not accidentally start with an outdated package.

Two anonymized spectroscopy example datasets are available for testing and teaching: a Siemens proprietary spectroscopy DICOM archive and a Philips enhanced spectroscopy DICOM archive.
An anonymized Siemens spectroscopy DICOM archive from an IDH-mutant glioma case for testing MRS(I) loading, spectroscopy grid display, and the v3 Clinical Viewer workflow.
Siemens-Spectro-Dicom-Proprietary.zip, approx. 106.6 MB.
An anonymized Philips enhanced spectroscopy DICOM archive from a post-mortem case for testing enhanced DICOM spectroscopy loading and clinical browser workflows in spectrIm-QMRS.
Philips-Spectro-Dicom-Enhanced.zip, approx. 233.8 MB.
Extract the archives locally and mount the extracted folder in spectrIm-QMRS. More context is available on the example dataset page.
